Hello to all my fellow future students planning to come to Spain! I’ve finally managed to tackle the tough challenge of the UNEDasiss application, and it was quite a journey. I’ve noticed many people asking about this on forums, but the information is often scattered, so I decided to compile my experience to hopefully help you all avoid some hurdles. In short, this is the ‘entry ticket’ for international high school students who want to apply to public universities in Spain. It’s officially called Acreditación and is managed entirely by the UNEDasiss agency, part of Spain’s National University of Distance Education (UNED).
What is UNEDasiss Accreditation?
Simply put, if your high school diploma isn’t from a Spanish International University, you must have your academic record evaluated by the Spanish International Arms University counterpart, UNEDasiss, to determine if you are eligible for undergraduate studies. They will convert your high school grades into the Spanish 10-point grading system. Note, this is only an eligibility accreditation, not an admission offer! It just gives you the same standing to apply as local Spanish students. To get into top universities and competitive programs, you usually also need to take their specific competency exams to boost your score, known as the PCE.
Required Documents Checklist
Preparing your documents is the most tedious and error-prone part of the process, so be extra careful! All documents issued from your home country must be notarized and have double legalization (or an Apostille), and they must be translated into Spanish by a sworn translator officially recognized in Spain.
| Document Type | English | Spanish |
| Proof of Identity | Photocopy of entire passport | Fotocopia del pasaporte |
| Academic Qualification | High School Diploma | Título de Bachillerato |
| Academic Record | High school transcripts for the final years | Certificado de notas de los últimos años |
| Application Form | Online application on the UNEDasiss website | Solicitud de servicios online |
Quick Tip: It’s best to start the process for your transcripts and diploma as soon as you graduate, because notarization and legalization can take a very long time. Don’t let it delay your application season
!
Timeline and Pitfall Guide
The entire process is a marathon, so I strongly recommend planning ahead. The application window generally opens around February and closes in late May or early June, but requirements can vary between universities, so always check the official website of the universities you’re applying to!
Common Pitfalls to Avoid:
Never translate the documents yourself; they must be done by a sworn translator to be valid!
- When paying the fees, be aware that the basic UNEDasiss accreditation service and the PCE exam registration are billed separately. Don’t miss one.
- Double-check the mailing address on the official website. Losing your documents in the mail would be a major disaster.
- Keep a close eye on your email and the application status on the UNEDasiss portal. Sometimes they request additional documents, and if you miss the deadline for your chosen Spanish university international
program, it’s game over.
Getting this UNEDasiss accreditation is the first step to applying to a Spanish university. While the process can be a bit complex, as long as you prepare in advance and check off each item on your list, you should be fine. I hope my experience helps you all!
