Hey everyone! I just finished my online interview for a Master’s program at URJC and I’m still feeling the excitement. I wanted to share the whole process while it’s still fresh in my mind to help those of you who have an interview coming up, and hopefully to build up some good karma for my own application!
Pre-Interview Preparation
I applied for a Master’s in Social Sciences. The interview notification from Rey Juan Carlos University came via email about a week in advance, providing a Microsoft Teams meeting link and the specific time. As soon as I got the email, I immediately started preparing. Here’s what I did:
- I reread my CV and statement of purpose several times to make sure I knew every detail inside and out.
- I checked the university’s official website and LinkedIn for information on the master’s program coordinator and key professors to understand their research interests, including the finance programs at URJC.
- I prepared answers to common questions like ‘Tell me about yourself,’ ‘Why did you choose our university?,’ ‘Why this program?,’ and ‘What are your future career plans?’ I prepared them in both Spanish and English, just in case.
- The day before, I tested the Microsoft Teams software, my camera, and microphone to ensure a stable internet connection,
so I could avoid any last-minute technical glitches or panic.
The Interview Process and Atmosphere
On the day of the interview, I joined the meeting room 15 minutes early. The interviewers were punctual. There were two of them, likely the program coordinator and a professor from the department. They were very friendly and started with some small talk to help me relax. The whole interview lasted about 20 minutes. It was conducted entirely in Spanish, but they spoke at a comfortable pace, and it was fine to politely ask them to repeat a question if I didn’t understand.
Summary of Interview Questions
This is the part everyone is most curious about regarding Rey Juan Carlos University! I’ve recalled most of the questions I was asked and organized them into a table for easy reference. The questions were quite standard, with nothing too tricky.
| Question Category | Specific Question (in Spanish) | English Meaning |
| Personal Motivation | ¿Por qué has elegido España y la URJC para estudiar tu máster? | Why did you choose Spain and URJC for your master’s degree? |
| Program Fit | ¿Qué te ha llamado la atención de nuestro programa de máster? | What aspects of our master’s program caught your attention? |
| Academic/Work Background | Háblanos un poco de tu experiencia previa . | Tell us a bit about your previous academic or work experience. |
| Future Plans | ¿Cuáles son tus planes de futuro después de terminar el máster? | What are your future plans after completing the master’s program? |
| Q&A Session | ¿Tienes alguna pregunta para nosotras? | Do you have any questions for us? |

A Few Personal Tips
Finally, here are a few tips based on my personal experience: First, confidence is key. Maintain eye contact with the interviewers and speak clearly and fluently. Second, be genuine in your answers; connect them to your real experiences rather than just reciting a script. Lastly, and this is the most important point: always prepare 1-2 questions to ask the interviewers
! This shows that you are genuinely interested in the program and have done your research. For example, you could ask about the course structure, internship opportunities, or the career paths of graduates.
I wish you all the best of luck with your interviews and hope you get your offers soon! If you have any questions, feel free to reply to this post, and I’ll do my best to answer.
