I just returned from Barcelona, and many friends have been asking about the cost of a one-week trip. I’ve organized my receipts, taking into account all expenses including potential transport options like the Barcelona monthly pass, to share a realistic breakdown. I hope this helps anyone planning a trip!
Accommodation Costs
Accommodation is one of the biggest expenses. I chose a three-star hotel in the Eixample district, which cost about €80 per night, totaling €560 for seven nights. If you’re on a tight budget, consider a hostel, where a dorm bed costs €25-€35 per night. If you want a more comfortable stay and your travel costs for Barcelona allow for it, a four-star hotel in the city center will run you €120-€150 per night. Vacation rentals are also a great option, often priced similarly to three-star hotels but with more space.

Dining Expenses
Dining in Barcelona is quite reasonable. I mostly had breakfast at my hotel, grabbed lunch at local eateries or fast-food spots, and occasionally splurged on a nicer restaurant for dinner. If you eat breakfast out, a coffee and pastry will cost about €5-€8; a set lunch menu (‘menú del día’) is typically €12-€18; and dinner is about €25-€40 per person—though if you’re saving up for Barcelona football tickets, you can find cheaper options! My total food cost for seven days was about €350, averaging €50 per day. You can save a lot by buying groceries at a supermarket and cooking some meals yourself.
| Item | Daily Cost | Total for 7 Days |
| Accommodation | €80 | €560 |
| Food | €50 | €350 |
| Transportation | €15 | €105 |
| Attraction Tickets | €20 | €140 |
| Other Expenses | €20 | €140 |
| Total | €185 | €1295 |
Transportation and Tickets
For city transport, I bought the T-10 travel card, which is good for 10 journeys on the metro or bus and costs about €11; I used two of them. The Aerobús from the airport to the city center is €6 one-way. For attractions, the Sagrada Família ticket was €26, Park Güell was €10, and Casa Batlló was €29. The main sights added up to about €140. I had planned to take the Montjuïc cable car, but I ran out of time.
Overall Budget Recommendation
Based on my experience, a comfortable budget for a seven-day trip to Barcelona is between €1,300 and €1,500, not including round-trip airfare. If you’re looking for a more cost-effective trip, staying in hostels and eating more local tapas can bring the budget down to around €1,000. For a more luxurious experience, you could budget up to €2,000. Remember to book your hotel and attraction tickets in advance to save money and avoid long queues. I also recommend getting a bank card that allows for fee-free cash withdrawals. While most places accept cards, you’ll still need cash for smaller shops and markets.
