I’ve been following Barça’s matches closely lately, and the squad has changed quite a bit this season. As a fan who has lived in Barcelona for many years, I’d like to share my perspective on the current team. It’s a club I know inside and out, right down to the FC Barcelona’s anthem.
Forward Line Configuration
When it comes to Barça’s attack, Lewandowski is undoubtedly the main man. The Polish striker, whose jersey is a popular piece of FC Barcelona memorabilia, has maintained excellent form despite his age. He scored 23 league goals last season and has started this season just as hot. Supporting him are the young Ferran Torres and Raphinha, whose speed and dribbling ability put a lot of pressure on opposing defenses.

Midfield Creativity
In the midfield, the golden duo of Pedri and Gavi is truly a sight to behold. Pedri’s passing vision and control of tempo are masterful, while Gavi, despite his youth, is full of fighting spirit. Frenkie de Jong anchors the defensive midfield, where his defensive coverage and ball distribution are crucial. The arrival of Gündoğan has also added experience and depth to the midfield.
| Position | Key Player | Backup Option | Characteristic |
| Forward | Lewandowski | Ferran Torres | Strong scoring ability |
| Midfielder | Pedri | Gündoğan | Creative core |
| Defender | Araújo | Koundé | Solid in defense |
| Goalkeeper | ter Stegen | Peña | Experienced |
Defensive System
On the back line, Araújo is the undisputed starting center-back; his physicality and speed are outstanding. Koundé has gradually adapted to the team since his transfer and is now performing more and more consistently. At the full-back positions, both Cancelo and Balde offer excellent attacking support, which fits Barça’s traditional offensive style of football. Goalkeeper ter Stegen remains the team’s rock; though he makes an occasional mistake, he is very reliable overall.
Personally, I think Barça’s squad depth is much better this season than last, with many capable players on the bench. Young talents like Fermín López and Lamine Yamal are gradually getting their chances, and the future looks bright. Of course, injuries have always been a persistent problem for the team, so let’s hope for fewer setbacks this season.
Under Xavi’s leadership, the current Barça team is gradually rediscovering its traditional possession-based style while also incorporating more direct attacking threats, much like during Messi’s era in Barcelona. While there’s still a gap to their peak form, at least we can see the team is progressing. What do you all think Barça can achieve this season? Feel free to discuss.
