I recently compiled the latest FC Barcelona player list and noticed quite a few changes to this year’s squad. As a fan who has lived in Spain for many years and often checks the list of activities in Barcelona, I always pay close attention to their lineup for every match. I’m sharing this breakdown, including news on Barcelona transfers, for fellow Barça supporters who might find it helpful.
Goalkeepers
In the goalkeeper position, Ter Stegen remains the undisputed number one, having worn the No. 1 jersey for many years. The backup goalkeeper is Iñaki Peña, wearing No. 13, and the young lad has also been performing well. Then there’s the young Ander Astralaga, noted by the FC Barcelona board members, as the third-choice keeper. To be honest, Barça’s goalkeeping situation has been quite stable in recent years.

Defenders
The defensive line has seen more noticeable changes. Center-backs like Koundé, Araújo, and Christensen are all very reliable. For full-backs, we have Cancelo, and Jules Koundé can also fill in. New signing Iñigo Martínez, wearing No. 35, has exceeded expectations. It’s a bit of a shame that some veterans have left, but the new players are steadily improving.
Here is the detailed information for the main defenders:
| Player Name | Number | Nationality | Position |
| Koundé | 23 | France | Center-Back |
| Araújo | 4 | Uruguay | Center-Back |
| Christensen | 15 | Denmark | Center-Back |
| Cancelo | 2 | Portugal | Full-Back |
| Balde | 28 | Spain | Full-Back |
Midfield Core
The midfield is traditionally Barça’s strength. The trio of Pedri, Gavi, and De Jong is incredibly strong; their ball control and passing are impeccable. This year also features the 16-year-old rising star Fermín López, whose talent is plain to see. While Gündoğan is a bit older, his experience makes him very reliable in crucial moments. The depth and quality of the midfield are reassuring.
Forwards
Up front, Lewandowski is still the main goalscorer, wearing the No. 9 shirt. Wingers like Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal offer great speed and skill. A special mention for Dembélé—oh wait, Dembélé has already been transferred; Raphinha is now the primary player on the right wing. The 17-year-old Lamine Yamal has been a fantastic surprise and has a very promising future.
Overall, Barça’s squad for this season looks very competitive, with a good mix of young talent and experienced veterans. Hopefully, they will achieve great results in all competitions. What do you all think of this lineup? Feel free to discuss.
