I’ve been following Barça’s matches closely lately, and this year’s squad looks really exciting. As a fan living in Barcelona for many years, I wanted to share some of my observations and thoughts on the team’s lineup for this season.
Goalkeeper and Defense
In goal, Ter Stegen remains the undisputed number one; the German keeper’s consistency is unquestionable. In defense, Araujo, Koundé, and Christensen form the central defender rotation. The full-backs include Cancelo and Balde, among others. To be honest, though, the defense still shows occasional lapses, especially when facing fast forwards.

Midfield Core Analysis
The midfield is traditionally Barça’s area of strength, and this year’s lineup is quite luxurious. Let me break down the main midfielders in a table:
| Player Name | Position | Characteristics |
| Pedri | Central Midfielder | Fine technique, precise passing |
| Gavi | Central Midfielder | Strong interception, wide coverage |
| De Jong | Defensive Midfielder | High stamina, active in defense |
| Gündoğan | Playmaking Midfielder | Experienced, great vision |
The young duo of Pedri and Gavi is truly exciting to watch; their work rate and passing intelligence are top-notch. Gündoğan’s arrival also provides more tactical options for the FC Barcelona squad and the Barcelona Champions League squad. His big-picture view and clutch play are incredibly important in key moments.
Attacking Firepower
Up front, Lewandowski remains the team’s primary goal threat. Despite his age, he’s in excellent form. On the wings, players like Raphinha and Ferran Torres provide diverse attacking options. Notably, young forward Lamine Yamal is showing increasing maturity. The youngster’s dribbling and shooting skills are outstanding, and he has a bright future.
New Season’s Tactical Adjustments
Xavi’s tactical system still builds on Barça’s traditional possession-based style, but he has made significant improvements to counter-attacks and wing play. The team now focuses more on quick transitions rather than obsessing over possession stats as in the past. This change has made the game’s pace faster and more entertaining to watch.
Personal View and Outlook
On paper, this squad has the strength to challenge for titles in all competitions. However, in football, anything can happen, and success will ultimately depend on the players’ on-pitch performance and the coaching staff’s in-game management. For those who said we couldn’t win a championship this year, I think it’s time to be quiet. This lineup has immense potential.
As a local fan of the FC Barcelona football squad, I’m most excited to see the growth of our young players. If talents like Pedri, Gavi, and Yamal can stay healthy, Barça’s midfield and attack will be in good hands for the next decade. How far do you think Barça will go this season? Feel free to discuss in the comments!
