The weather has been warming up recently, so I finally had the chance to head to the coast again. This time, my friends and I went to the Costa Blanca and instead of a hotel, we rented an entire villa. It had a rather unique name, ‘Yue Xian Fu’. It sounds Chinese, but the house itself is pure modern Mediterranean style, which I found really interesting, so I wanted to share my experience with everyone.
The villa isn’t located in the main tourist-heavy area, but on a quiet hillside near Altea. The big advantage is that it’s extremely private and very peaceful; at night, all you can hear is the wind and the distant sound of the waves. The view from the terrace is an uninterrupted panorama of the deep blue Mediterranean Sea. A potential downside is that you need a car to get to town or to a large supermarket, but for anyone looking for a quiet retreat in a Mediterranean villa in Spain, the tranquility you get in return is definitely worth the short drive.
Design and Amenities
The design of the house was my favorite part. It features pure white walls paired with large floor-to-ceiling glass windows, making the lighting incredible. The interior is minimalist and modern, but softened with plenty of wood and rattan furniture, giving it a very warm feel. The best feature, of course, was the infinity pool, which seems to merge with the horizon of the sea and is incredibly photogenic.

The yard also has several olive and lemon trees, full of Mediterranean charm. The kitchen was very well-equipped, and for several days we bought fresh seafood to cook ourselves, enjoying dinner while looking out at the sea—the feeling was just amazing. I was initially worried the facilities might be old, but it turns out they are very well-maintained.
