Hello everyone!
I’ve been thinking about a career change recently. The healthcare industry seems quite stable, which has led me to look into the Nursing Assistant position. Getting the certification seems manageable, but I’m really unsure about the actual salary for this job. The information I’ve found online is all over the place—some say it’s high, others say it’s low. So, I wanted to ask on this forum if anyone familiar with the Nursing Assistant role could share some insights.
My main question is: what is the approximate take-home pay per month for a Nursing Assistant in Spain? I know it definitely depends on the region, whether it’s the public or private sector, work experience, and shift schedules. For example, how significant is the salary difference between big cities like Madrid or Barcelona and regions like Andalusia or Galicia? Which offers better pay and benefits: public hospitals or private clinics?

To make it clearer, I’ve put together a rough table based on some information I gathered online. These figures for [Spanish healthcare] may not be completely accurate and are just for reference. I would greatly appreciate it if experienced members could correct or add to it!
Estimated Basic Monthly Salary for Nursing Assistants in Spain
| Institution Type | Region | Basic Gross Monthly Salary |
| Public Sector | Madrid | 1300€ - 1500€ |
| Public Sector | Andalusia | 1200€ - 1400€ |
| Private Hospital | Major Cities | 1100€ - 1400€ |
| Nursing Home | National Average | 1080€ - 1300€ |
It’s worth noting that the figures above are just the basic salary. The actual take-home pay will also include extras like night shift bonuses, holiday overtime pay, seniority pay (antigüedad), etc. I’ve heard that the public sector offers much better benefits and job security, but it’s also much harder to get into. How about the actual workload and environment in private institutions? Is it much more demanding than in the public sector?
Finally, I’d like to ask for your opinions on the career prospects for this job. Is there a high demand for TCAEs in Spain right now? In the long run, is being a Spanish Nursing Assistant a worthwhile career path to invest in? I hope you can all speak freely and offer some practical advice. Thanks in advance!
