Hello everyone, I recently moved to Madrid and am still adjusting to life here. My family is quite concerned about health and often asks me about the current pandemic situation in Spain, like whether there are still many confirmed cases in hospitals. I also want to be well-informed, but I’m finding it difficult to locate accurate official data, as the information online seems a bit chaotic.
I’d like to ask the experienced members of this forum: where do you usually get the latest data on confirmed cases in Spain? I’m particularly interested in the number of hospitalizations and ICU patients. I feel these figures better reflect the actual pressure on the healthcare system than just the number of new infections. Is it the Ministry of Health’s official website? Or are there other more user-friendly apps or websites you could recommend?

I’ve searched online myself and it seems that since 2022, many of the previous daily or weekly reports have stopped or are updated much less frequently. For example, for the autonomous communities I’m most concerned about, like Madrid, Catalonia, and Andalusia, it’s even harder to find their specific data. I wonder if I’m not looking in the right places?
Main Data Sources
I’ve compiled a list of potential official channels for tracking Spanish cases and other related topics like obtaining a Spanish death certificate. I’m not sure if they are the right ones, so please take a look and add any suggestions:
Spanish Ministry of Health
In theory, this should be the most authoritative source. I found their pandemic report page, but it doesn’t seem to be updated very frequently anymore. Also, the reports are in PDF format, which is a bit difficult to read through. Have they switched to monthly or even less frequent updates?
Websites of Regional Health Departments
I tried looking for the one for the Community of Madrid, but the information is buried quite deep on the site. It seems inefficient if you have to search each region’s site individually, especially if you’re also looking for general information about Spanish public hospitals. Does anyone know of a website that consolidates data from all the autonomous communities?
Below is the format of some recent data I found on a news website. It looks something like this, but I’m not sure how accurate it is. If you have a more reliable source, please share it.
| Metric | Data | Notes |
| Total Hospitalized | ≈ 1,800 | Nationwide, not real-time |
| ICU Patients | ≈ 90 | Intensive Care Unit |
| 14-day Incidence Rate | ≈ 45 | per 100,000 inhabitants |
In short, I’m just looking for a reliable and convenient way to check the number of confirmed cases and hospitalizations in Spanish hospitals. Thanks in advance to all the helpful neighbors here! Hope everyone is doing well, stay away from the virus, and stay healthy!
