As a recent arrival in Spain with a nursing background from my home country, I’ve been figuring out how to get back into my profession here. After some research, I found that besides general platforms like Infojobs and LinkedIn, there are many specialized recruitment websites for the healthcare sector. These sites offer more focused information and relevant job openings. Today, I’m sharing a few of my bookmarked gems, hoping to help fellow healthcare professionals with the same goal!

Key Channels for Medical Job Postings
1. Official Websites of Regional Health Systems
This is the most official and authoritative channel. Each of Spain’s Autonomous Communities has its own public health system website where all official positions, temporary contracts, and calls for ‘job pools’ (Bolsas de Trabajo) for public hospitals are published. The downside is you need to check each region’s site individually, and the process can be quite bureaucratic, making it more suitable for those with a long-term strategy.
2. Specialized Medical Job Portals
In addition to official channels, several commercial job portals focus on the medical field. They list positions from both public and private hospitals and are updated frequently, making them well worth monitoring. I primarily use the following:
Sanijobs: This website has a clean interface and allows you to filter by specialty and region. Many private hospitals and clinics like to post their vacancies here. I feel it offers more opportunities for finding positions in the private sector.
Medicos y Pacientes: This is the official platform in partnership with the Spanish Medical Colleges Organization (Organización Médica Colegial de España). Therefore, the doctor positions listed are highly authoritative and reliable. If you’re a doctor, this should be your first choice.
Satse: This is Spain’s largest nurses’ union, and their website has a dedicated job section. Although it’s primarily for members, much of the information is public. Colleagues looking for nursing positions should check it regularly; it also provides useful resources for navigating the healthcare system, like guides on the Cita Previa (appointment booking) process, along with plenty of industry news and information on your rights.
To help you compare, I’ve put together a simple table that shows their features at a glance:
| Website/Channel | Position Types | Key Advantages | Best For |
| Regional Health Systems | Mostly public hospitals | Official, stable, authoritative | Healthcare professionals seeking permanent positions |
| Sanijobs | Both public and private | Large volume of listings, frequently updated | Those starting their job search, open to both public and private sectors |
| Medicos y Pacientes | Primarily doctor positions | Highly authoritative, doctor-exclusive | Doctors of all specialties |
| Satse | Primarily nurse positions | Not for doctors Nurse-exclusive, rich in industry info | Nurses, nursing assistants |
Finding a job in the medical field is a major undertaking that requires combining official and commercial channels. Especially for us as foreigners, who also have to deal with complex matters like credential recognition, planning ahead is crucial. I hope this information provides a little help, and I welcome experienced colleagues to add their own insights and experiences!
