Hello everyone! I’ve just finished enrolling my child at Hamelin International School and have been looking into the school uniform situation these past few days. It turns out there’s quite a bit to it. Since I haven’t seen a dedicated post on this topic in the forums, I thought I’d get the ball rolling and create a super comprehensive uniform guide for Hamelin International School to help new parents. Feel free to add your own tips!
When I first received the school’s uniform list, I felt a bit overwhelmed. It’s a long list, covering everything from summer and winter wear to PE kits and swimming gear. The school has strict requirements for different occasions. For example, a collared polo shirt is mandatory for daily wear, and the full PE kit must be worn for sports classes—even the socks and jackets are specified. It seemed like a hassle at first, but on second thought, it actually makes life easier. You don’t have to worry about what to dress your child in every morning, and since everyone wears the same thing, it can help reduce peer pressure over clothing, which is great.

Uniform Components and Purchasing
The uniform is mainly divided into two categories: daily uniform and sports uniform. I’ve organized the main items into a table to make it clearer:
| Uniform Category | Main Items | Notes |
| Daily Uniform | White polo shirt, grey V-neck sweater/cardigan, grey trousers/shorts/skirt, school jacket | Slight variations between boys’ and girls’ styles |
| PE / Sports Uniform | Blue sports T-shirt, blue sports shorts/trousers, sports jacket | Worn for PE classes and excursions |
| Other | Swimsuit for swimming lessons, swim cap, special bib | These items are also purchased from the official supplier |
The purchasing channel is simple and, in fact, the only one: through the school’s designated supplier, El Corte Inglés. You can buy directly from their physical stores or place an order on their website. I personally recommend visiting a store first to have your child try on the sizes, as European sizing can be different from what we’re used to, and getting the wrong size is a pain. Once you know the right sizes, you can easily order replacements online whenever needed.
Some Money-Saving Tips
To be honest, a full set of uniforms can be quite pricey, especially since kids grow so fast and might need new sizes every year. I’ve heard from some veteran parents that the school organizes second-hand uniform sales annually, so keep an eye out for school emails about that. Also, for basic items like white polo shirts and grey trousers, you could, in a pinch, find very similar styles elsewhere. However, it’s best to stick to the official uniform, as there can be subtle differences in fabric and color that a teacher might notice. My advice is to definitely buy the official versions of items with prominent logos, like the jacket and sweater. For other items, you can be more flexible. In any case, I’d recommend having at least one complete, official set on hand for any occasion!
