I’ve been thinking about transferring my child to a new school lately, and it’s been a bit overwhelming. Due to our family background, we want him to grow up in an environment that values both Spanish and Korean, so he doesn’t lose touch with either language.
Previously, I was mainly looking at British and American international schools, but I always felt something was missing. Then, while talking to a friend, it occurred to me: with K-Pop and the Korean wave being so popular now, could there already be international schools in Spain that teach Korean? After all, the Korean community in Madrid is growing, so it seems like there should be a demand for it.
I’ve done some searching online, but the information is very scattered, and I haven’t found an official list. I’ve seen some weekend Korean classes, but we’d prefer a full-time school that systematically teaches Korean as a formal language, like a Korean-Spanish international school
, not just as a hobby class. An immersive bilingual program that integrates both cultures into the curriculum would be perfect.

I was wondering if anyone on the forum has information about this. Are there any similar private or international schools in Madrid or the surrounding areas? I’m very interested in learning about these schools’:
- Application difficulty: Are there nationality or language proficiency requirements?
- Tuition fee range: What’s the approximate cost?
- Curriculum: Is it an IB program or another system? What is the proportion and depth of the Korean classes?
- Student body: Is it mainly Korean children, or is it more diverse?
Some Incomplete Information I’ve Gathered
To facilitate discussion, I’ve compiled some fragmented information I’ve found into a table, but I’m not sure how accurate it is. Please feel free to correct or add to it!
| Institution Type | General Location | Languages of Instruction | Notes |
| Korean School | Las Rozas | Mainly Korean | I heard the curriculum is aligned with South Korea’s; not sure if they accept non-Korean students |
| Weekend Language Class | Near Usera | Korean/Spanish | Supplementary classes, not a full-time school |
| Private Tutoring | City-wide | Korean/Spanish | Flexible, but lacks a campus environment and peer interaction |
Basically, there’s a lot of uncertainty… I feel like I’m starting from scratch. If anyone’s child attends a similar school, or if you have friends working at one, I would be so grateful if you could share some firsthand experience! Any lead is helpful! ¡Muchas gracias a todos
