As someone relatively new to Spain, I’ve recently started thinking about buying a property. I’ve been spending my days figuring out where to even begin my search. After some research, I’ve found that the online property market here is quite developed, with a vast amount of information available. Today, I want to share a few of the main property search websites I’ve compiled. I also welcome any tips or corrections from the seasoned pros here!
A Rundown of Major Property Platforms
Idealista
When it comes to property websites, Idealista is the undisputed king. Its interface is very intuitive, and it covers the whole of Spain with comprehensive listings for buying, renting, and flat-sharing. My favorite feature is the map search, which lets you draw a circle around your desired area to see all available properties inside it—super convenient. Furthermore, the information on Spanish property platforms like this is updated very quickly, as many real estate agencies and private sellers post their listings there first. However, because it’s so popular, the best properties get snapped up incredibly fast. If you see something you like, you really have to contact them immediately.

Fotocasa
Fotocasa is Idealista’s main competitor and another massive platform. I feel that many of its listings overlap with Idealista’s, but you can occasionally find some exclusive properties. Its user experience and features are also well-developed, and the app is quite good. I personally make it a habit to browse both platforms to ensure I don’t miss out on any great opportunities on these Spanish property platforms. Some friends who also use Spanish property platforms say that Fotocasa has a higher concentration of listings than Idealista in certain specific regions, so it might depend on the area you’re looking in.
Habitaclia
Habitaclia primarily focuses on regions like Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, and Andorra. If you’re looking to buy in Barcelona or Mallorca, this website is definitely one to watch closely. It has a very deep penetration in these areas, and the information is categorized in greater detail, offering specific filters like “penthouses with a pool.” Although it has been acquired by Idealista, it still operates as an independent brand and website, retaining its distinct characteristics.
Quick Platform Comparison
To make it more intuitive, I’ve created a simple table to compare the features of these platforms:
| Platform Name | Main Advantage | Coverage Area | Personal Take |
| Idealista | Most listings, comprehensive features, fast updates | All of Spain | A must-have app for house hunting |
| Fotocasa | Large volume of listings, user-friendly interface | All of Spain | The best complement to Idealista |
| Habitaclia | Focuses on specific regions, detailed info | Catalonia, Balearic Islands, etc. | Top choice for regional searches |
| Pisos.com | Sometimes has surprise deals on bank properties | All of Spain | Interface is a bit dated, but worth a look |
By primarily using Idealista and Fotocasa, and supplementing them with regional sites like Habitaclia based on your target city, you should be able to cover most of the properties on the market. Buying a home is a major decision, so it’s definitely worth spending some extra time researching on these platforms beforehand. Does anyone else use other websites? Feel free to share and discuss!
