It’s arguably the absolute leader among Spanish property websites, offering comprehensive features, a vast number of listings, and wide city coverage. Whether you’re looking for a small apartment in a big city like Madrid or Barcelona, or a holiday villa by the sea in Andalusia, Idealista has a massive selection. The website is available in both Spanish and English, making it quite friendly for those who aren’t fluent in the local language.
Its app is also very well-designed. You can draw a circle on the map to select an area, and when you see a property you like, you can directly chat online or call the landlord or agent, which is very convenient. However, precisely because it’s so popular, good properties get snapped up very quickly. If you see something you like, you must act fast! Also, be aware that there are quite a few scammers on the platform. Be especially wary of listings with ridiculously low prices and luxurious furnishings that ask for a deposit before you can even view the property—don’t trust them under any circumstances, they are almost always scams!
Fotocasa and Pisos.com: Important Alternatives
Besides Idealista, the other two giants are Fotocasa and Pisos.com. Sometimes, you might find listings on these two sites that aren’t on Idealista. My impression is that Fotocasa has some unique offerings in certain regions, especially for second-hand property sales. Pisos.com feels a bit more traditional, but it’s still a platform that shouldn’t be overlooked. My personal routine is to first browse Idealista, and if I don’t find anything I’m completely happy with, I’ll run the same search filters on these other two sites to cover all my bases.
