Just finished moving? Staring at an empty kitchen and feeling a bit overwhelmed about what practical items to buy is a common feeling. After living in Spain for a while, I’ve realized that the ‘standard’ kitchen setup here is quite different from what I was used to. After chatting with neighbors and friends, and spending a few days browsing online, I’ve compiled a list of the hottest kitchen products on the Spanish market right now. I’m sharing it in the hope that it will help others who are feeling just as lost!
My Kitchen Gadget Hit & Miss List
Hit List - The No-Regret Purchases
1. Air Fryer
This gadget has absolutely been the TOP 1 in recent years! From students to homemakers, it seems like everyone has one. The advantages are crystal clear: it’s healthy, requiring little to no oil. Operation is a breeze—just throw the ingredients in and set a timer, making it a godsend for lazy days. Whether it’s for making fries, roasting chicken wings, or reheating bread, it’s faster and more energy-efficient than a standard oven. The most popular brands are Cosori and Cecotec, which are budget-friendly and frequently on sale.

2. Kitchen Robot/Food Processor
This is more of an advanced-level gadget, especially for those who aren’t confident cooks or are short on time. The most famous one is, of course, the Thermomix, but its price can really make you wince. However, there are many affordable alternatives now, like Cecotec’s Mambo series. Its functions are incredibly powerful: kneading dough, chopping, blending, stewing, steaming, sautéing… it does almost everything. By following its guided recipes, even a complete beginner in the kitchen can whip up a feast. If your budget for kitchen gadgets allows, I highly recommend it!
3. Hand Blender
This little device may seem unassuming, but its usage frequency is incredibly high! Spaniards love their creamy vegetable soups (cremas) and Gazpacho, and this is the key to getting that perfectly smooth texture. It’s also perfect for making mashed potatoes, pumpkin soup, smoothies, or baby food. It’s inexpensive, easy to store, and offers incredible value for money. Models from Braun and Bosch are very reliable.
Miss List - Dust Collector Alert
To be fair, this isn’t a true ‘miss list,’ but more about items that I personally found redundant. For example, dedicated yogurt makers or ice cream machines. They were exciting for the first couple of days, but have been gathering dust in the cupboard ever since. So, before buying, it’s really worth considering how often you’ll actually use it.
To help you choose, here’s a simple table comparing the features of these popular products:
| Product | Pros | Cons | Recommended Brands |
| Air Fryer | Healthy, fast, energy-saving, easy to use | Limited capacity, not ideal for large families | Cosori, Cecotec, Philips |
| Kitchen Robot / Food Processor | Versatile, time-saving, comes with guided recipes | Expensive, bulky, can be a bit tricky to clean | Thermomix, Cecotec Mambo |
| Hand Blender | Inexpensive, compact and easy to store, versatile | Single function, less powerful | Braun, Bosch, Moulinex |
