Lately, there have been many posts on the forums about choosing a major, and I’ve noticed a lot of interest in nursing. It’s true that nursing has become a very secure career path in Spain in recent years, offering high social standing, job stability, and excellent employment prospects after graduation from nursing programs at Spanish universities. I have friends currently in the program, so today I’d like to share some insights on Spain’s nursing universities and some solid application tips.
Why is nursing so popular? First, Spain’s medical education is renowned throughout Europe, and its nursing programs are no exception. The degree you earn is recognized across the EU, making it easy to work in other European countries. Second, Spain has a significant aging population, leading to a consistently high demand for professional nurses. As a result, graduates from Spanish university nursing programs have a very high employment rate.

A Few Things to Know Before You Apply
To apply for nursing at these top universities, there are two major hurdles to overcome. The first is your Entrance Exam Score (Nota de Corte). The admission scores for nursing are consistently high, with many popular public universities requiring a score of 12 or more (out of 14), so you must prepare well for the optional subject exams to boost your score! The second is Language Proficiency. All classes, internships, and reports are in Spanish. Without a DELE B2 certificate or an equivalent level of proficiency, you’ll find it extremely difficult to keep up. Some universities even require a C1 level. Without good language skills, all your efforts will be for nothing. Language is the most fundamental requirement
