Just arrived in Spain or planning to move? Feeling stressed out about apartment hunting again? Don’t worry, I’ve compiled all the rental websites and apps I’ve learned about through years of trial and error in Spain. I hope this helps! These are all platforms that I or my friends have used and found to be quite reliable.
Major Mainstream Rental Platforms
When it comes to renting in Spain, you can’t really avoid the following major players. They have the most listings and the widest coverage. However, you also need to be careful and filter your search, as large platforms attract all kinds of people and properties.
Idealista: The undisputed No.1
! Whether you’re looking to rent an entire apartment or just a single room, Idealista has the most comprehensive selection of listings. Its app is also very well-designed, with powerful filtering options that let you search by area, price, property type, and even by whether there’s an elevator. The downside is that good properties get snatched up incredibly fast. If you see something you like, you have to contact them immediately, or it might be gone in a flash.
Fotocasa: On par with Idealista, it also has a massive number of listings. The interface and features are very similar, and I personally make it a habit to browse both. Sometimes, Fotocasa has exclusive listings you won’t find on Idealista. I recommend downloading both apps, setting up your filters and alerts, so you’ll be the first to know when a new property becomes available.

Platforms for Shared Flats / Finding Roommates
If you’re a student or a young professional looking for a single room, the following platforms might be a better fit for you, as they have a stronger social component.
Badi: I highly recommend this app for anyone looking for roommates! It’s like a ‘Tinder for flatmates,’ where you can see profiles of potential roommates, including their interests, hobbies, and daily routines. Landlords or lead tenants post listings, and you can match and chat with them directly. This helps you avoid the awkward situation of living with someone you don’t get along with. For finding roommates, Badi is definitely the top choice.
Spotahome: The key feature of this platform is that all properties are personally verified by their ‘Homecheckers,’ who provide high-definition videos and detailed floor plans for renting in Spain
. For people who are still in their home country and want to secure a place in Spain in advance, this platform is very reliable, allowing for ‘virtual viewings’. Of course, with better service comes a relatively higher price.
Here’s a simple table for easy comparison. Wishing everyone the best in finding their own cozy home in Spain!
| Website/App | Key Features | Best For |
| Idealista | Most listings, fast updates | Everyone, especially for entire flats |
| Fotocasa | Lots of listings, a good backup for renting or buying in Spain | Everyone |
| Badi | Strong social features, roommate matching | Students, young people looking for single rooms |
| Spotahome | Video tours, remote renting | People abroad looking to book in advance |
