I just arrived in Valencia not long ago and spent quite a bit of effort finding a place near UPV. Since I’ve seen many new students asking about it, I decided to share my experience and what I’ve learned. Hopefully, this helps! Choosing the right place to live can make your study abroad experience much more comfortable.
Analysis of Main Rental Areas Around UPV
There are many options for housing around UPV, but the most popular choices are along the Blasco Ibáñez avenue and in the Algirós district. Each has its pros and cons, so I’ve made a simple comparison to help you choose based on your needs.
Blasco Ibáñez Area
This is the most popular spot for students looking for UPV housing. The main advantage is its proximity to the university; you can walk to the humanities campus and some engineering faculties, which is a dream for those who hate commuting. The area is packed with amenities like supermarkets, restaurants, and gyms, and it has a vibrant nightlife. The downside is that because it’s so convenient, rent is relatively expensive, the buildings are generally older, soundproofing can be poor, and the streets can be a bit noisy at night.
Algirós Area
This district is right next to Blasco Ibáñez and also very close to the university, about a 10-15 minute walk or bike ride away. In contrast, Algirós feels more like a local residential neighborhood and is much quieter. You can get better value for your money here, often finding newer apartments in better condition. I personally live here and find it very comfortable. The only drawback might be that it’s not as bustling or brightly lit as Blasco Ibáñez, but it’s just as convenient for daily life.

Rental Platforms and Price Reference
As for where to find an apartment, the most common platforms are Idealista and Fotocasa; they have very comprehensive listings. You can also check the university’s notice boards or some Facebook rental groups, where you might occasionally find good listings directly from landlords. Regarding prices, I’ve put together a general range for your reference:
| Area | Average Monthly Rent (Single Room) | Features |
| Blasco Ibáñez | 350 - 450€ | Close but pricier, older buildings |
| Algirós | 300 - 400€ | Good value for money, quiet environment |
| Benimaclet | 280 - 380€ | Bohemian vibe, more budget-friendly |
Finally, a few reminders: when viewing an apartment, always ask if utilities (gastos like water, electricity, and internet) are included in the rent. Also, inquire about the security deposit, which is typically one month’s rent. When signing the contract, read the terms carefully to protect your rights. I wish you all the best in finding a great home in Valencia! Good luck
