Just moved to Spain and still getting the hang of the language, but you need to buy daily essentials, right? Amazon is the obvious choice for its convenience and speed. But here’s the catch: Amazon.es defaults to a Spanish interface. Facing a screen full of “Hola,” “Ofertas,” and “Carrito” can be truly baffling, and guessing can lead to mistakes or even ordering the wrong items.
Many of us have been there. The good news is that Amazon’s language settings are quite flexible, allowing you to switch to a more familiar Chinese or English interface. It’s incredibly easy to do. I’ve put together the steps for both the desktop website and the mobile app in this guide on how to switch Amazon’s language, and I hope it helps!
How to Change the Language on the Desktop Website
Changing it on your computer is the most straightforward way, requiring just a few steps.
- Open the official Amazon Spain website,
Amazon.es.
- Move your mouse to the top-right corner, over the icon that looks like a small flag with “ES” next to it, near “Hola, Identifícate”.
- A drop-down menu will automatically appear. This is where you can select the language and currency. You will see many language options.
- In the language list, find and click on “中文 - ZH - 简体” (Chinese - ZH - Simplified) or “English - EN”.

After you click, the page will automatically refresh, and the entire website interface will change to your selected language! Super simple, right? From now on, whether you’re searching for products, reading reviews, or checking out, everything will be clear, and you won’t have to worry about making a mistake. The only thing to note is that the product titles and descriptions themselves will remain in the language provided by the seller, but the website’s navigation and system messages will be in your chosen language, which greatly improves the user experience.
How to Change the Language on the Mobile App
The process on the mobile app is similar, though the option is a little more hidden.
| Step (Amazon Chinese settings) | Instructions |
| Step 1 | Open your Amazon Shopping app and tap the three horizontal lines (hamburger menu) in the bottom-right corner. |
| Step 2 | In the menu, scroll all the way down and tap on “Configuración” (Settings), which usually has a flag icon next to it. |
| Step 3 | On the settings page, select “País e idioma” (Country & Language). |
| Step 4 | Here, you can change the language. Simply select “中文 (Chinese)” or “English”. |
Once changed, the app will automatically switch languages, making your shopping experience much smoother. Even though you’ve changed the language, you are still shopping on the Spanish site, so you’ll continue to enjoy local shipping and Prime services—no need to worry about that. Hopefully, this little tip makes your online shopping in Spain easier and more enjoyable! If you have any other questions about Amazon language settings, feel free to ask in the comments below.
