Having recently moved to Spain, I’ve noticed the pace of life is very different from back home, and I’ve had to get used to the online shopping scene here. I’ve placed a few orders on Amazon.es recently, ran into some minor issues, but also learned a lot. I’m starting this thread to share my experience, hoping it can help other newcomers!
Placing Orders and Payment
The Amazon.es interface is pretty much the same as in other countries, so it’s easy to get the hang of. I’ll skip the account registration process and focus on setting up your address and payment methods. I recommend using Google Maps to double-check your address format, and be extra careful not to enter the wrong postal code. For payment, I linked my N26 bank card, which works seamlessly. Of course, cards from local Spanish banks or any Euro-supported credit cards work just fine too.
One thing to watch out for: when you place an order, there’s a final confirmation page where you can review your items, address, and delivery speed. The first time, I didn’t pay close attention and chose a more expensive delivery option, costing me a few extra euros. So, when using Amazon Spain, always double-check everything before paying!

Choosing a Delivery Method
Amazon’s delivery options can be a bit of a science, especially for non-Prime members. Standard orders usually offer several choices with different delivery times and prices; it’s quite a contrast to the simplicity for Prime members, and sometimes you might even need to know how to handle canceling an order. If you’re not in a hurry, the cheapest option will do; it usually arrives within a week. But if you want it faster, you’ll have to pay extra.
Eventually, I couldn’t resist and subscribed to Prime. Although there’s an annual fee, most items come with free 1-2 day delivery. Plus, you get extra perks like Prime Video and Amazon Photos, so it’s quite a good deal when you do the math. Especially for someone like me who frequently buys small items, the savings on shipping costs quickly make up for the subscription fee.
Common Delivery Issues Summary
I’ve put together a summary of some delivery situations I’ve encountered or heard about from friends, including issues like disappearing Amazon orders, for your reference:
| Delivery Method | Pros | Cons |
| Standard Delivery | Cheap, sometimes even free | Slow, usually takes 3-5 business days or more |
| Next-Day Delivery | Fast, mostly free for Prime members | Expensive for non-members |
| Amazon Locker | Secure and convenient, pick up anytime | Requires travel to a specific location, size restrictions apply |
| Third-party Pickup Point | Many locations, like post offices or convenience stores | Also requires self-pickup, limited by business hours |
About Returns
Finally, let’s talk about returns. I once bought a keyboard wrist rest that was the wrong size, and the return process was much simpler than I expected. Just find the item in ‘My Orders,’ click ‘Return or Replace Items,’ and select a reason. Amazon will generate a return code. I chose to return it at a Correos (post office) location. I just handed the item and the return code to the staff—I didn’t even have to pack it myself—and there was no shipping fee. The refund was also quick; the money was back on my card a couple of days after they received the item. Overall, the experience was completely hassle-free. I hope these tips are helpful to you all, and I welcome any experienced users to add their own advice below!
