Just moved to Spain and finding that while there are plenty of physical stores, nothing beats the joy of online shopping? Amazon, in particular, is a total lifesaver. I’ve seen many newcomers in online groups asking how to place an order, so I’ve put together a super-detailed, step-by-step Amazon Spain guide based on my own experience. Hope it helps!
Registration and Address Entry
This step is quite simple, much like signing up for any other online shopping site. Go to the Amazon.es website, find Hola, Identifícate in the top right corner, and select Empieza aquí to start. Just follow the prompts to enter your name, email, and password. The crucial part is filling in your address, as this directly affects whether you’ll receive your packages successfully.
In Mi cuenta (My Account), add a new address under Mis direcciones (Your Addresses). The typical Spanish address format is:
Nombre y apellidos: Full Name
Línea 1 de la dirección: Street name and number, e.g., Calle de Gran Vía, 28
Línea 2 de la dirección: Floor, apartment number, etc., e.g., 3º Izquierda. This line is optional.
Código postal: Postal code, very important!
Ciudad: City
Provincia/Región: Province/Region
Número de teléfono: Phone number, which the delivery person will use to contact you.

About Prime Membership: Is It Worth It?
The core of Amazon’s service is its Prime membership. New users typically get a 30-day free trial, after which the subscription is €49.90 per year. Personally, I think it’s well worth the money if you shop online frequently! The benefits are numerous:
| Main Prime Benefits | Description |
| Envío rápido y gratis | Free next-day or two-day delivery on most items. |
| Prime Video | Similar to Netflix, you can watch many free movies and TV series. |
| Amazon Photos | Unlimited, full-resolution photo storage. |
| Prime Reading | Borrow a selection of Kindle e-books for free each month. |
| Ofertas exclusivas | Access to exclusive member-only deals, like the annual Prime Day. |
If you don’t plan to continue, be sure to cancel the auto-renewal in Mi suscripción a Amazon Prime before your free trial ends, or you’ll be charged automatically! Don’t ask me how I know.
Ordering, Payment, and Shipping
Once you’ve selected your items, add them to your cart (Añadir a la cesta) and proceed to checkout (Tramitar pedido). Most bank cards are accepted for payment; you can simply link your Spanish bank card. After confirming the order, you can track your shipment in Mis pedidos (My Orders). Amazon’s own logistics are very fast, but it might be slower if the item is from a third-party seller or shipped by another carrier. Packages are usually delivered to your door. If you’re not home, they might be left with a neighbor, at a collection point, or you may need to contact the carrier to arrange a new delivery. In short, always keep an eye on the tracking information.
That covers the basics for now. There’s actually a lot more to explore on Amazon, like how to find discounted items, use coupons, and so on. If you have any questions or other money-saving tips, feel free to leave a comment and discuss below! Happy shopping in Spain!
