Lately, I’ve been seeing tons of unboxing videos on TikTok and Instagram featuring those massive pallets of Amazon returns, and I got really curious. In the videos, people unbox everything from brand-new Dyson hair dryers and Apple AirPods to all sorts of quirky gadgets. It looked like they were hitting the jackpot! So, I couldn’t resist digging into it myself, and here’s what I found out.
What Are Amazon Mystery Boxes?
In short, these are items that customers have returned to Amazon and can no longer be sold as new. Amazon bundles these products into large pallets or boxes and sells them in bulk to liquidation companies. These companies then resell the pallets to individuals or small businesses. Since you have no idea what’s inside before you buy—just a general category like ‘Electronics’ or ‘Home Goods’—it’s as thrilling as opening a blind box. If you’re lucky, you could find items worth far more than what you paid. If not… well, you could end up with a pile of e-waste.
How to Buy Them in Spain?
You can’t buy these directly from Amazon. They’re primarily sold through specialized liquidation auction sites. I looked into a few, with major ones being B-Stock and Liquidation. These platforms often require a registered business account, and the starting bids aren’t cheap—usually several hundred euros per pallet, plus you have to arrange your own shipping. This makes the barrier to entry quite high for the average person. However, I also found people selling smaller, broken-down boxes on Wallapop and Milanuncios for anywhere from €50 to €200. These are much more suitable for anyone just wanting to try it out. I ended up contacting a seller on Wallapop and bought a box described as ‘Small Appliances and Electronics’.

The unboxing process was both nerve-wracking and hilarious. Inside, I found a brand-new coffee machine, a used Bluetooth speaker, three random charging cables for unknown devices, a kid’s toy drone, and a bunch of other miscellaneous small items. Overall, by selling the usable items on Wallapop, I managed to break even and make a tiny profit. But it took a significant amount of time and effort to test, photograph, list the items, and haggle with buyers. Here’s a breakdown of the common platforms and their features:
| Platform Type | Pros | Cons |
| Professional Liquidation Sites | Direct source, potentially lower prices | Requires business registration, large purchase volume, shipping costs |
| Second-hand Platforms | Low barrier to entry, small batches | Resold by middlemen, higher prices, smaller profit margins |
| Social Media Groups | Occasional private sales | Disorganized information, higher risk of scams |
Trying to get rich from this is quite difficult; the videos of big wins are definitely the exception, not the rule. But if you’re handy, can fix minor issues, and enjoy the thrill of the hunt with these Amazon mystery boxes, then buying a small box can be a lot of fun. Just think of it as paying for a thrilling unboxing experience! Has anyone else tried this? What amazing finds or epic fails have you unboxed? Let’s chat about it!
