Having recently arrived in Spain, I’ve found that while offline shopping is convenient, the selection online is often much better. Amazon is probably the most popular choice, right? I’ve been debating whether to sign up for a Prime membership lately. After researching the costs, I’ve compiled my findings to share with anyone else who’s on the fence. Let’s discuss it together.
Amazon Prime Membership Fees in Spain
The biggest question is always the price. Amazon Spain offers two payment plans for its Prime membership:
- Monthly Payment: €4.99/month. This adds up to €59.88 per year.
- Annual Payment: €49.90/year. This option is clearly more cost-effective, averaging out to about €4.16 per month.
New users typically get a 30-day free trial, which is great for testing the service before committing. However, a word of caution: if you decide not to continue after the trial, make sure to manually cancel the subscription in your account settings before it ends. Otherwise, you’ll be automatically charged! A friend of mine forgot and ended up paying for a month they didn’t want.

What Exactly Does a Prime Membership Include?
So, what do we get for our money? Besides the main perks of free shipping and fast delivery, a Prime membership bundles in a lot of other benefits. I’ve listed a few that I find most useful:
| Service | Brief Description |
| Prime Video | Amazon’s streaming service, similar to Netflix, with a large library of movies and TV shows. |
| Prime Reading | Access to a rotating selection of free Kindle eBooks and magazines each month. |
| Amazon Photos | Unlimited full-resolution photo storage and 5GB for video. |
| Prime Gaming | Formerly Twitch Prime, offers free games and in-game content monthly. |
| Exclusive Deals | Early access to deals, such as a 30-minute head start on Lightning Deals and access to Prime Day sales. |
Honestly, if you’re only in it for the free shipping, it might not feel worth it. But if you also watch shows, play games, or read eBooks, the value of the membership increases significantly. I personally signed up for Prime Video, so I think of it as paying for a streaming subscription and getting the free shipping as a bonus. Viewed that way, it’s a great deal.
Personal Experience: How to Get the Most Value?
For those who don’t shop online often, or just want to avoid shipping fees on an occasional purchase (and are perhaps mindful of extra costs like the new Spanish Packaging Act), my advice is this: build up your shopping cart, then activate the 30-day free trial to make all your purchases at once. After you’re done, as long as you cancel the subscription before the trial period ends, you won’t be charged a cent. Of course, if you’re like me and place a few orders on Amazon each month, and also use its video or music services, then the annual membership is definitely a hassle-free and money-saving choice. What’s your take on it? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
