The weather has been getting nicer lately, and I’ve been thinking about hosting an outdoor movie night in the yard—it just sounds so cozy. So, I started researching projectors on Amazon Spain and discovered there’s a lot more to it than I thought, with prices ranging from tens to thousands of euros. I’m sharing the homework I’ve done, hoping it can help others with the same idea.
Budget and Brand Selection
First, let’s talk about budget. I’ve found that projectors on Amazon can generally be sorted into a few price ranges:
- Under €100: Most of these are from Chinese brands like WiMiUS, YABER, TOPTRO, etc. They are basically ‘toy-grade’ projectors. The brightness (lumens) is generally low, making them almost unusable during the day. Their resolution is often advertised as ‘supports 1080P,’ but the actual native resolution might be 720P or even lower. The upside is their low price, making them okay for casual use or for kids to watch cartoons.
- €150-€400: This is the most competitive price range and where I think you get the best value for money. It includes high-end models from many Chinese brands and entry-level models from international brands like Anker’s Nebula series. You can find competitive Amazon pricing for them. Their brightness and resolution are much better, generally providing a good viewing experience in a living room with the curtains drawn.
- Over €500: This is the territory of established major brands like Epson, BenQ, and Samsung’s The Freestyle. These products guarantee better color accuracy, brightness uniformity, and system experience, but the price reflects that. If you’re aiming for a true home cinema effect, this is the tier to consider.

How to Interpret Key Specs
After looking around, I realized you can’t just go by price; you need to understand a few key specifications to avoid being misled by marketing jargon. I’ve summarized the most important ones for your reference:
| Parameter | Recommendation | Explanation |
| Brightness | Choose at least 200 ANSI lumens | Be sure to look for ANSI lumens. Many off-brands will advertise thousands or even tens of thousands of ‘light source lumens,’ which is not a very reliable metric. |
| Native Resolution | At least 1080P | Many products claim to ‘support 4K,’ but their actual native resolution might only be 720P, resulting in a noticeably pixelated image. |
| Throw Ratio | Calculate based on your space | For example, a throw ratio of 1.2:1 means you can project a 1-meter-wide image from a distance of 1.2 meters. |
| Smart System | Built-in Android TV / Google TV is best | A built-in smart system is much more convenient, allowing you to directly install apps like Netflix and YouTube. Without one, you’ll need an external TV box. |
A Few Models I’m Personally Considering
After watching many reviews and videos, a few models have made it to my shortlist. For example, the Anker Nebula Capsule series, which is shaped like a soda can, is very portable. Although its brightness is average, its built-in battery and operating system are big pluses, letting you project anywhere, anytime. There’s also the WiMiUS K1; in the €200-€300 range, reviews say its brightness and clarity are quite good. Of course, if budget isn’t an issue, Samsung’s The Freestyle is very appealing with its beautiful design and full feature set, though the price is a bit of a deterrent.
I still haven’t decided which one to buy and am still debating. Has anyone here bought a projector on Amazon Spain? Any models to recommend or pitfalls to avoid? Feel free to join the discussion! I hope to make my outdoor movie dream come true this summer! 😄
