Reason for the Outage and Affected Areas
To improve the service quality and reliability of the electricity distribution network, Spain’s two major power suppliers, Iberdrola Group and Endesa, have scheduled upgrade and maintenance work on the grid in parts of the Community of Madrid from December 1st to 5th. These planned outages will affect Madrid’s city center and several surrounding key municipalities, including Alcalá de Henares, Getafe, Torrejón de Ardoz, Leganés, Pozuelo de Alarcón, Móstoles, and Torrelodones. The utility companies state that each power interruption will typically last between 10 to 20 minutes, aiming to minimize the impact on residents’ daily lives.

Advice for Residents
The utility companies emphasize that all outages are part of scheduled, routine work aimed at improving long-term grid performance. Users in the affected areas do not need to take any special action; power will be restored automatically once maintenance is complete. Residents are advised to take note of the outage times and plan any electricity-dependent activities accordingly. To ensure the safety of maintenance crews, temporary traffic controls may be implemented on some work routes. It is recommended that citizens check the precise outage times for specific streets through official channels before traveling to avoid delays.
