Estopa and Chenoa to Host RTVE’s 2025 New Year’s Eve Chimes Broadcast
Spain’s public broadcaster RTVE has officially announced that the music group Estopa and singer Chenoa will co-host the New Year’s Eve chimes broadcast on December 31, 2025. The broadcast will air live from Madrid’s Puerta del Sol, with the three hosts promising a celebration filled with music and humor.
Change of Hosts
Originally scheduled to be hosted by Andreu Buenafuente and Silvia Abril, the 2025 New Year’s Eve broadcast plans changed due to Buenafuente’s health reasons. RTVE announced the new hosts—Estopa brothers David and José Muñoz, and Chenoa (real name Laura Corradini)—on December 18, 2025, at Madrid’s Plaza de Callao and during the ‘Telediario 2’ news program.
Host Profiles and Expectations
The duo Estopa has been active for 25 years, famous for numerous hit songs. Chenoa was a finalist in the first season of ‘Operación Triunfo’ and currently hosts the shows ‘The Floor’ and ‘Dog House’ on La 1. RTVE stated that this lineup will deliver the ‘most musical’ New Year’s Eve chimes broadcast in history, emphasizing spontaneity, warmth, and humor.
Broadcast Details and Tradition
The New Year’s Eve chimes broadcast will take place from Puerta del Sol, continuing the Spanish tradition of helping viewers eat the 12 lucky grapes in time with the clock strikes to welcome the new year. The hosts have mentioned they will offer practical advice, such as how to avoid choking. David Muñoz described it as the ‘most important thing’ in his career, and the brothers recalled watching the chimes with their family since childhood. Chenoa emphasized her commitment to ensuring the broadcast runs smoothly.
Program Highlights and Reception
The three hosts showed natural chemistry during the announcement. Estopa joked about techniques for eating the grapes, while Chenoa expressed both excitement and nervousness. This move by RTVE aims to strengthen its musical programming, continuing a trend of innovation after last year’s broadcast hosted by David Broncano and Lalachus. The broadcast is expected to draw a large audience, airing live on the La 1 channel.
