Leading global aviation analytics firm Cirium recently published its 2025 On-Time Performance (OTP) Review. Based on year-round flight data, the report provides a comprehensive assessment of the on-time performance of airlines and airports worldwide.
Global Rankings: Aeromexico Defends its Title
The report shows that Aeromexico successfully defended its title with an On-Time Performance (OTP) of 90.02%. Demonstrating consistent performance across nearly 190,000 flights operated in 2025, it has been named the world’s most punctual airline for the second consecutive year. It is followed by Saudia with an OTP of 86.53%, and SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) ranked third globally with 86.09%.

Europe: Iberia Express Excels
In Europe, Spanish low-cost carrier Iberia Express stood out, securing the top spot in the region for the third consecutive year with an on-time performance of 88.94%. The report notes that despite challenges in the European aviation industry in 2025, such as a major power outage on the Iberian Peninsula and software issues with the Airbus A320, the airline maintained a high level of operational efficiency. Additionally, SAS and Austrian Airlines ranked second and third in Europe, respectively, making them reliable choices for travel within the continent.
Winners in Other Key Regions
In other parts of the world, the performance of regional winners varied:
- North America: Delta Air Lines maintained its lead in the region with an OTP of 80.90%.
- Asia-Pacific: Philippine Airlines became the regional champion with an OTP of 83.12%.
- Middle East & Africa: South Africa’s FlySafair recorded an impressive 91.06% OTP, surpassing the figure of the global winner.
Airport On-Time Performance Rankings
In the airport category, Santiago Airport (SCL) in Chile ranked first among large global airports with an on-time departure rate of 87.04%. The top-performing large airport in Europe was Oslo Gardermoen Airport in Norway, with an OTP of 86.00%. Meanwhile, Helsinki-Vantaa Airport in Finland topped the medium-sized airport category in Europe, making it an ideal choice for efficient transit.
