Just saw the freshly released 2025 QS World University Rankings and had to come share the news with everyone! I always keep a close eye on how Spanish universities are doing, as it’s relevant to many forum members who are currently studying in Spain or planning to apply. This year’s results are quite impressive and definitely worth a dedicated post to discuss.
Overall, Spanish universities have shown a steady improvement this year. Several top, well-established institutions have achieved excellent rankings. For instance, both the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Barcelona have broken into the global top 170, which is a truly significant achievement! The Autonomous University of Barcelona and the Autonomous University of Madrid also remain firmly within the top 200, showcasing their formidable strength.
Speaking of Spanish universities, besides their rankings, which you can read more about in these Spanish university success stories, their beautiful campuses are also a major highlight. I always feel a sense of longing whenever I see photos of them! Here’s a picture of the University of Salamanca, a personal favorite of mine. Its classical architecture is simply a work of art.

To make it clearer, and inspired by tips on how to write a great acceptance post, I’ve compiled a simple table listing the 2025 QS World University Rankings for some of the most popular Spanish universities. The data is from public sources and is completely accurate!
A Look at the 2025 QS Rankings for Selected Spanish Universities
| University Name | 2025 QS Global Ranking |

Of course, rankings are just one reference point and don’t tell the whole story about a university. When choosing a school, it’s essential to consider your field of study, personal interests, and career goals. Many Spanish universities have specific programs, such as in business, architecture, tourism management, and art & design, that are highly ranked and respected within their industries. Moreover, compared to the UK or the US, the tuition fees and living costs for studying in Spain are much more affordable, offering excellent value for money!
What are your thoughts on this year’s rankings? Are there any current students or prospective applicants here? Feel free to share your opinions and real-life experiences!
