Cristhian Mosquera, a young center-back with dual Spanish and Colombian nationality, has become a rising star in European football with his consistent performances. His career enters a new phase after joining Premier League club Arsenal in the summer of 2025.
From Valencia’s Academy to First-Team Regular
Mosquera’s football journey began at Valencia CF. In 2016, at just 12 years old, he joined the club’s youth academy and quickly rose through the ranks. In January 2022, he made his first-team debut, becoming one of the youngest center-backs in the club’s history. In the following seasons, he gradually solidified his position, especially in the 2024/2025 season, where he started all 41 matches, becoming an indispensable pillar of the team’s defense.
Joining Arsenal in the Premier League
In the summer of 2025, Arsenal FC signed Mosquera for a fixed fee of €15 million (with the total deal approaching €20 million), on a five-year contract. This transfer marks his official arrival at a top European club. As a key addition to the defense, he is expected to be a crucial rotation player. In a public interview, Mosquera stated that joining an ambitious team like Arsenal is about winning more trophies.

Versatile Technical Skills
Standing at 191cm (6′3″), Mosquera possesses an excellent physical frame, giving him a clear advantage in aerial duels. He is not only capable as a center-back but can also play as a full-back, showcasing his versatility. His defensive style is noted for precise anticipation and smart positioning, along with good ball-playing ability, fully meeting the technical demands for a modern defender. Data from the 2024/2025 season shows he averaged 4.2 clearances and 1.8 interceptions per game and received only one yellow card throughout the season, earning praise for his discipline and defensive maturity.
Future National Team Choice
On the international stage, Mosquera is already the captain of the Spain U21 national team and won a gold medal with the Spanish Olympic team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, playing a key role in the 5-3 final victory over France. Given his outstanding performances, the Colombian Football Federation has extended multiple invitations to him since 2023, hoping he will represent the Colombian national team. Despite this, Mosquera’s first choice remains to play for the Spanish senior national team, and the Spanish Football Federation also views him as a future core member of their defense. Currently, he has not made a final decision on his national team allegiance.
