Suspicious Activity Spotted During Patrol in Usera
Around 6:00 PM on April 19, while on a routine patrol in Madrid’s Usera district, Spanish National Police officers noticed several individuals acting suspiciously. The police initially suspected they were preparing to commit a crime using the ‘sowing method’ (método de la siembra). This technique involves criminals distracting a victim by intentionally dropping an item nearby, allowing an accomplice to steal from them.
A Perilous Chase on the Motorway

When the suspects became aware of the police presence, they immediately got into a car and sped away from the scene. A tense chase unfolded across several streets in southern Madrid. The suspect vehicle drove recklessly during the escape, posing a serious threat to public traffic safety, and eventually entered the M-45 motorway, continuing their flight towards the outskirts.
Interception and Arrest After Collision on the M-45
To prevent the suspect vehicle from further endangering public safety, the police set up a roadblock on the M-45 motorway. The chase concluded near exit 7 of the M-45, on a stretch close to the Marconi industrial estate. The suspect vehicle was forced to a stop after violently colliding with a police car while attempting to break through the blockade. Officers moved in quickly to control and arrest all occupants of the vehicle.
Aftermath and Casualties
The operation resulted in the successful arrest of five suspects, all men of Peruvian nationality, who were detained for alleged property crimes. During the intense chase and collision, a total of eight National Police officers sustained minor injuries. All have since received medical treatment and their lives are not in danger. Additionally, the incident caused severe damage to three police patrol cars, rendering them almost totaled.
