Hello to all fellow students in Spain! I’ve noticed more and more posts on the forum asking about the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM) recently. Since I’ve been studying here for almost a year, I thought I’d start a thread to share my genuine experience. Hopefully, it can offer some guidance to those of you who are currently choosing a university.
To be honest, there were a few reasons I chose UCAM. First, its programs in Sports Management and Business are quite well-known in Spain, especially in sports, earning it the nickname ‘The University of Sportsmen’. Second, the cost of living in Murcia is really low compared to Madrid or Barcelona, which saves a lot of money. I was worried a small city might be boring, but I was completely wrong.
The most stunning thing about UCAM has to be its main campus! The entire campus is built around a gorgeous monastery. I was truly blown away the first time I visited; it felt like studying at Hogwarts. Here’s a picture to give you a feel:

The academic buildings and facilities are very modern, fully equipped with a library, gym, and cafeterias. The environment is simply fantastic.
Some Practical Tips on Study and Life
Regarding academics, I feel the professors are very responsible. Classes are often small, providing many opportunities for interaction. However, language is key; you’ll really struggle if your Spanish isn’t strong. Here is a rough breakdown of my monthly living expenses for your reference:
| Item | Cost (€) |
| Rent | 200 - 280 |
| Utilities | 40 - 60 |
| Food | 200 - 300 |
| Transport | 20 - 30 |
| Other | 50+ |
Overall, you can live quite comfortably on around €600 a month.
UCAM is a private university that offers great value for money. If you’re not set on the hustle and bustle of big cities like Madrid or Barcelona, and would rather study peacefully in a quiet, scenic, and affordable location, then San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia is an excellent choice. I initially thought a private university might be academically lax, but the curriculum and assessments are actually quite rigorous. Ultimately, it depends on what you want to get out of your experience. Feel free to ask me any questions in the comments, I’ll answer everything I know! Let’s discuss
