A highly professional and violent robbery recently took place in Barcelona, Spain. Five masked assailants carried out a lightning-fast heist by ramming a vehicle into a high-end luxury store located in the central Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district.
A Coordinated ‘Ram-Raid’ Attack
The incident occurred at Aura The Club, a luxury store located at 9 Bori i Fontestà street. According to the investigation, the criminal gang consisted of five individuals. They drove a suspected stolen SEAT León, using a technique known in Spain as ‘alunizaje’ (ram-raiding), to smash directly through the shop’s metal shutters and glass window, creating an entry point. The entire team, dressed in dark clothing with their faces covered by balaclavas, acted swiftly, indicating meticulous planning and coordination.
High-Value Luxury Goods Stolen
Once inside, the thieves specifically targeted high-value items. A preliminary inventory shows the stolen goods include handbags and wallets from top international brands such as Hermès, Goyard, and Louis Vuitton. Apparel from Kith and accessories from Chrome Hearts and Chanel were also taken. While the exact value of the loss is still being calculated, initial estimates are in the thousands of euros. The store’s entrance and interior also sustained significant damage.
A Well-Planned Three-Car Escape
After the heist, the gang demonstrated a high level of organization. They abandoned the SEAT used for the ramming and quickly switched to two getaway vehicles—an Alfa Romeo Giulia and a Volkswagen Golf—to flee the scene in different directions. Notably, the suspects also carried fire extinguishers, which investigators believe may have been intended to create a smokescreen to obstruct views or hinder any potential pursuit, ensuring a safe escape.
Police Investigation and Public Safety Concerns
The Catalan regional police, the Mossos d’Esquadra, quickly cordoned off the scene and have launched a full investigation. Officers are analyzing security footage and the abandoned vehicle for clues to identify the suspects and the criminal network behind them. Police have noted that this type of organized ram-raiding has become increasingly frequent in certain areas of Barcelona, typically carried out by professional gangs familiar with the local area and modus operandi, posing a new challenge to public safety.
