Hey everyone, after living in Spain for a while, besides the sunshine, Tapas, and tales about the real struggles of university life in Spain, what fascinates me most is the inherent charm of the Spanish language itself. Some expressions are just so powerful and poetic. So today, on a whim, I’ve put together my personal ‘acceptance letter’ to the ‘University of Spanish Motivational Phrases’ to share with you all, hoping it brings a little inspiration!

First Lesson: Soul-Stirring Motivational Phrases
There are many sayings in Spanish that sound simple but have a profound, lasting impact when you reflect on them. They’re perfect for keeping on your desk as a reminder. For instance, the well-known phrase: Querer es poder. A literal translation would be ‘To want is to be able,’ which is very similar to the English saying, ’Where there’s a will, there’s a way.'
Another one I personally love is: No hay mal que dure cien años, ni cuerpo que lo resista. It means ‘There is no evil that lasts 100 years, nor a body that can resist it.’ Doesn’t that just make your current problems feel like nothing much more surmountable?
Second Lesson: The Essence of Brand Slogans
Beyond life mottos, Spanish brand slogans are also fascinating. They capture the brand’s core essence in just a short sentence. Many have become an integral part of daily life in Spain. I’ve put together a little table for you to get a feel for it:
| Brand | Slogan | English Meaning |
| El Corte Inglés | Si no queda satisfecho, le devolvemos su dinero. | If you are not satisfied, we will give you your money back. |
| Mercadona | Siempre precios bajos. | Always low prices. |
| SEAT | Auto emoción. | Auto emotion. |
| Cola Cao | El alimento de los campeones. | The food of champions. |
These slogans are more than just ad copy; they build a sense of trust and cultural identity. Take the one from El Corte Inglés, for example. It’s a promise so deeply ingrained in every Spaniard’s mind that it needs no further explanation. That’s the power of language.
Alright, that’s all for my ‘lesson’ today. Do you have any favorite Spanish phrases or memorable brand slogans of your own? Feel free to share them in the comments, and let’s fill up the library of this ‘university’ together! ¡Vamos
