First Break-in Before Dawn: Robbery at Knifepoint
According to a report from the Spanish Guardia Civil, the incident occurred around 3 a.m. on August 4. A man, armed with a large knife and in an agitated state, appeared outside a residence in the town of Barbate, Cadiz, shouting death threats at the homeowner, a person with severely limited mobility.
Investigators reported that the suspect first slashed the mosquito net on a window with his knife, then repeatedly slammed against the door until he forced his way in. Once inside, he threatened the victim with the knife, stole a small amount of property, and fled. Afterwards, neighbors who came to comfort the victim noticed the suspect still lingering in the area, riding a bicycle.
Second Attack at Dawn: TV Stolen After Violent Entry
Just five hours later, around 8 a.m. the same day, the man returned to the same residence. This time, the victim tried to block the door from the inside to prevent his entry. However, the suspect grabbed a stone slab and threw it violently at the door, shattering its glass panel and injuring the victim in the process.
The suspect then broke in again, this time stealing a television before escaping.
Swift Police Response: Suspect Arrested and Jailed
After receiving the report, the local Guardia Civil immediately launched a manhunt. Thanks to crucial information provided by neighbors, police quickly located and arrested the suspect. He was handed over to the judicial authorities, and a judge ordered his immediate remand in custody pending trial.
Case Update: Some Stolen Goods Recovered, Drugs a Suspected Motive
In the follow-up investigation, police stated that most of the stolen property had been recovered, but the television is still missing. Investigators suspect, based on available leads, that the suspect may have quickly sold the television to buy drugs. The investigation is ongoing.
