Gold Scam Turns into Double Homicide
According to a report from Paraguayan police, a father and son from the province of Barcelona, Spain, were recently apprehended in southern Paraguay. They are accused of meticulously planning a robbery and murder disguised as a fake gold transaction.

The case details reveal that the father-son duo lured three local men with an offer to sell a batch of gold for approximately €54,000. However, they had no gold, instead preparing gold-colored rocks or minerals to pass off as the real thing. At the meeting point, the pair allegedly tied up the three victims and opened fire while attempting to steal the cash the buyers had brought.
Survivor Exposes Crime by Playing Dead
The violent attack resulted in the on-the-spot deaths of two Paraguayan men, constituting a double homicide. Shockingly, the third victim, after being shot, managed to deceive the assailants and survive by holding his breath and remaining motionless, effectively playing dead.
After confirming the suspects had left the scene, the sole survivor managed to escape and immediately reported the incident to local police, providing a detailed account that was crucial for the swift breakthrough in the case.
Main Suspect Has Serious Prior Convictions in Spain
The investigation revealed that the father, identified as F.B.U., has an extensive criminal record in Spain. A ruling from a Barcelona court shows that F.B.U. was previously sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2014.
His conviction was for masterminding a plot from prison to kidnap the 11-year-old son of a drug trafficker, for whom he planned to demand a ransom of €5 million. This criminal history highlights his dangerous nature as a repeat offender and his propensity for premeditated crime.
Paraguayan Police Launch Further Investigation
The Spanish father and son are currently in custody. Paraguayan authorities are conducting a full and in-depth investigation into this heinous case involving double homicide, robbery, and fraud to clarify the specific roles of the two suspects and all details of the crime.
