On the opening day, the Fira Gran Via was bustling with 103,000 attendees, a 9% increase from last year, including over 2,500 exhibitors and more than 1,100 speakers. GSMA executives stated that the event reflects the strong recovery momentum of the mobile industry. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, emphasizing Barcelona’s position as a global hub for mobile technology. Artificial Intelligence and 5G-Advanced technologies are the core themes of the conference. Giants like Qualcomm, Ericsson, Nokia, and Orange are showcasing their latest products in the exhibition area, including Snapdragon processors supporting generative AI, RedCap modules, and network slicing solutions. A GSMA report indicates that global 5G connections have surpassed 2 billion and are projected to reach 5.3 billion by 2025. The event also features a sustainability zone, exploring green data centers and low-power device designs in response to global carbon neutrality goals.
