Hotel in Ibiza: 2-Year-Old Girl Found Unconscious in Pool
The first incident occurred around 11:16 AM on August 17 at a hotel in the Cala Tarida area of Ibiza. A 2-year-old girl from France was found drowning in the hotel’s swimming pool. A lifeguard pulled her from the water but she was already unconscious. The lifeguard administered basic CPR until paramedics arrived to provide advanced life support. The girl is currently in serious condition.
Yacht Club in Mallorca: 4-Year-Old Boy Rescued from Pool
Earlier the same morning, at approximately 9:55 AM, a similar tragedy occurred at a yacht club in Port de Pollença, Mallorca. A 4-year-old boy from the UK was found drowning in the club’s pool. An on-site lifeguard rescued him and immediately performed basic life support. A specialized medical team arrived soon after, providing emergency treatment to stabilize his vital signs.
Emergency Response: Police Create “Green Corridor”
In the Mallorca incident, the boy was rushed to the pediatric emergency unit at Palma University Hospital. To ensure the fastest possible transfer, the Spanish Civil Guard (Guardia Civil) activated a “green corridor” protocol, clearing the route for the ambulance to save crucial time.
Condition Critical: Both Children’s Lives Hang in the Balance
Despite the rapid response from lifeguards and medical teams in both cases, the two toddlers are in extremely serious condition. As of now, they are both in intensive care and their lives remain in danger. These incidents, occurring on the same day, are a tragic reminder to vacationing families about the critical importance of child water safety.
