Improper Emergency Request Clinically Denied
According to a statement released by the Seville Medical Union, this severe disruption of medical services occurred at the Amante Laffon Health Center in the eastern district of Seville. Recently, a female patient visited the facility and, despite showing no life-threatening or urgent clinical symptoms, insisted on receiving immediate emergency care.
The report states that the patient not only demanded to bypass standard procedures but also insisted the on-duty doctor order a series of medical tests for her, including the analysis of a stool sample she had previously failed to submit on time. After a professional clinical assessment, the doctor clearly informed the patient that her condition did not meet the criteria for emergency admission and that the requested tests could not be performed through the emergency channel. The doctor then provided professional medical advice, instructing her to follow the standard healthcare process by scheduling an appointment with her assigned family doctor for a follow-up consultation.
Deliberate Contamination Causes Service Interruption
In response to the medically sound and reasonable refusal, the patient reacted with extreme aggression. She opened the medical collection container with her stool sample that she was carrying and poured its contents directly onto the doctor’s desk.
This extreme act immediately caused severe chaos in the consultation room, not only creating a significant shock and disruption for the doctor involved but also forcing a complete halt to all medical services in that room. To ensure a safe and sanitary environment for subsequent patient care, the hospital had to urgently dispatch cleaning and disinfection personnel for a deep clean and thorough sterilization of the contaminated room and office equipment.
Hospital Activates Biohazard Protocol and Pursues Legal Action
In response to this malicious incident, the Seville Medical Union quickly intervened and activated the relevant biological risk protocol to address the potential pathogen transmission and public health hazards posed by the fecal contamination.
Currently, both the medical institution and the union have strongly condemned the patient’s actions for disrupting public order and insulting medical staff. It is reported that the affected doctor, with the full support of the union, has decided to initiate legal proceedings and file a complaint against the perpetrator to protect the legitimate rights of healthcare workers and maintain the normal operational order of public medical facilities.
