Man Dies in Hospital After Self-Immolation in Front of Córdoba’s City of Justice
The Incident
According to information released by local authorities, the shocking incident occurred around 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 29. The event took place in front of the main entrance of the City of Justice of Córdoba (Ciudad de la Justicia de Córdoba). A man doused himself with a flammable substance and set it alight, committing an act of self-immolation.
Emergency Response and Rescue
Following the incident, several emergency response units were promptly notified and dispatched to the scene. These included the Córdoba Local Police (Policía Local de Córdoba), firefighters (Bomberos), and paramedics from the 061 emergency medical service. The rescue team provided emergency treatment to the man at the scene, who was still showing vital signs at the time.
Medical Outcome and Investigation Progress
After receiving initial first aid, the man was urgently transported by ambulance to the local Reina Sofía University Hospital (Hospital Universitario Reina Sofía) for treatment. However, due to the extensive and severe nature of his burns, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
As of now, officials have not released the deceased’s personal identity. The motive for his extreme actions and the reasons behind the incident are still under investigation by the National Police.
