An Ambitious Blueprint: A ‘Supermoon’ on Earth
Canadian company Moon World Resorts has recently unveiled a groundbreaking architectural concept: a plan to build giant, spherical complexes resembling the moon around the globe. This project aims to bring the “lunar experience” to Earth, with Spain listed as a potential construction site alongside the UAE, China, and the United States. If realized, this futuristic project would undoubtedly become a new landmark for Spain and the world.
A World Within: The Vertical Micro-City
According to the design proposal, the scale of this “Supermoon” building is astounding, reaching a height of 310 meters and a diameter of 271 meters. The interior will be developed into a vertical micro-city integrating tourism, leisure, commerce, and residence. Core facilities include a massive luxury hotel with approximately 4,000 rooms, a world-class conference center, extensive commercial spaces, and up to 10,000 luxury residential units.
Core Highlight: Simulated Moonwalk Experience
The project’s main selling point is its dedicated lunar surface simulation area. This zone will meticulously recreate the environmental features of the lunar surface and offer a simulated low-gravity experience, allowing visitors to feel the magic of a “moonwalk” without leaving Earth. The design company believes this unique facility will not only be a huge draw for tourists but also has the potential to serve as a ground-based training facility for astronauts from various national space agencies.
Investment and Outlook: Global Site Selection Underway
Moon World Resorts estimates the total investment for the project will be close to $5 billion. The company plans to raise funds by attracting private capital and through the pre-sale of luxury residences within the project. Furthermore, the project is planned to operate on a franchise model, potentially allowing for replication in different regions worldwide. Surrounding the main structure, plans also include 20 support towers and an elevated panoramic walkway, forming a comprehensive urban area around the “moon.” Currently, the project is still in the concept and site-selection phase. If financing and approvals proceed smoothly, the first “Moon” complex is expected to open to the public around 2032.
