Loan Agreement Secured for One Season
On September 2, 2026, local time, Atlético de Madrid confirmed through its official channels that a new member has joined the attack. The club has reached an agreement with Serie A giants Juventus for the transfer of Canadian international Jonathan David on a loan basis. Under the agreement, David will don the red and white jersey and play for Atlético de Madrid for the entire 2026/27 season.

Jonathan David, born on January 14, 2000, in New York, USA, later moved with his family to Ottawa, Canada, where he began his football journey. His European career started in 2018, where he burst onto the scene at Belgian club KAA Gent, scoring 37 goals in two seasons. In 2020, he transferred to French side Lille, where he enjoyed a prolific five-year spell, making 232 appearances and contributing 109 goals and 31 assists. After joining Juventus in 2025, he played 47 matches and scored 8 goals for the Italian team in one season.

Since his debut for the senior team in 2018, he has scored 42 goals, making him the all-time leading scorer in Canada’s history.
