Highway Pursuit Escalates Into Street Ambush
Recently, a severe violent incident targeting law enforcement officers occurred in Terrassa, Barcelona province, Spain. At approximately 10:30 PM on the night of the incident, two plainclothes Civil Guard officers spotted a suspicious vehicle, potentially linked to a theft ring, near the Barcelona exit on the AP-7 highway.
To avoid alerting the suspects, the officers tailed the vehicle, eventually following it into Europa Street in the Can Parellada neighborhood. However, once the suspect vehicle parked, the situation rapidly deteriorated. The covert tracking instantly escalated into a fierce street shootout.
Officer Shot Four Times and Brutally Beaten
Upon realizing they were being followed, the suspects drew their weapons and fired first at the two plainclothes officers in the street, forcing the police to draw their service weapons and return fire in self-defense. During the intense exchange of gunfire, one officer was tragically shot four times and collapsed. His partner was also hit but fought to provide cover and attempted to rescue him.
According to video footage recorded by eyewitnesses at the scene, at least one member of the criminal gang was armed with a highly lethal shotgun. Even more egregiously, after the wounded officer fell and lost the ability to resist, some attackers stepped forward and continuously beat him with clubs and blunt metal objects. Scene footage shows that during the assault, the thugs repeatedly interrogated the injured officer about his police identity and arrogantly demanded he show his identification.
Officers Out of Danger and Subsequent Manhunt
Following the attack, the involved thugs quickly fled the scene. The officer with relatively minor injuries urgently called for medical assistance while doing his best to provide basic first aid to his severely wounded partner. Subsequently, the two casualties were rushed to the local Parc Tauli Hospital and Mutua de Terrassa Hospital for trauma treatment.
The official Civil Guard later reported that although one officer suffered multiple gunshot wounds and severe injuries, both are now in stable condition after emergency treatment. They are completely out of danger but require continued hospitalization for further observation and rehabilitation.
Following the incident, police rapidly cordoned off the area and launched a massive manhunt. Three suspects involved in the case have been apprehended so far, but the pursuit of other fugitives remains in full swing. Investigators are conducting in-depth cross-referencing of collected physical evidence and on-scene videos, striving to fully reconstruct the complete sequence of this vicious shooting incident and bring all those involved to justice.
