Hello to all the fans in Spain! How many of you are die-hard fans of Money Heist? Does hearing Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao Ciao Ciao
! instantly get your blood pumping? As a phenomenal Spanish series, many of its iconic scenes were filmed right near us, especially in Madrid. Today, I’ve put together a comprehensive guide to the Money Heist filming locations. Let’s follow in the Professor’s footsteps for an immersive pilgrimage to these famous spots!
Stop 1: The “Royal Mint of Spain”
The core location of the first two seasons, that magnificent building taken over by the Dalí-masked crew, is actually not the real Royal Mint of Spain. For security reasons, the crew couldn’t film at a place with real money and gold. The exterior of the “Mint” in the show is actually the main building of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC)
. Located in Madrid’s upscale Salamanca district, this building is grand and incredibly photogenic. You can visit for a photo-op anytime, but be aware that you can only take pictures from the outside, as the interior is not open to tourists.

Stop 2: The “Bank of Spain”
In the third season, the target was upgraded to the “Bank of Spain.” Just like with the Mint, the crew couldn’t film inside the real Bank of Spain. The heavily guarded exterior of the “Bank of Spain” in the series is actually the Nuevos Ministerios (New Ministries) complex in Madrid. It’s located on the bustling Paseo de la Castellana and houses several government ministries, including Transport and Labor. Its modern yet stately architectural style perfectly fits the show’s depiction of the “nation’s heart.” This is also an excellent spot for taking dramatic, high-impact photos!
Other Easter Egg Locations
Besides the two main “crime scenes,” the show features other scattered but equally fantastic filming locations. For instance, the Italian monastery where the Professor and Berlin planned their epic heist is actually an estate called Finca El Gasco on the outskirts of Madrid. The series also showcases many other beautiful spots, similar to Spain’s colorful attractions. Also, the iconic scene at the beginning of season three, where the Professor drops 140 million euros from a blimp over downtown Madrid, causing city-wide euphoria, was filmed in Madrid’s bustling Plaza del Callao. This is the heart of Madrid, filled with shops and theaters. You can easily check it off your list while shopping and imagine the joy of catching “free” money.
To help you plan your route, I’ve put together a simple table. We recommend saving it!
