Just returned from Benalmádena and can’t help but share this wonderful travel experience with everyone. This charming town located on the Costa del Sol in Málaga province is truly an underrated vacation paradise.
About Benalmádena
Benalmádena is just 20 minutes by car from Málaga airport, making it extremely convenient to reach. This destination boasts a 20-kilometer coastline and is divided into three main areas: the coastal zone, the village area, and Arroyo de la Miel district. Each area has its own unique charm, and you can explore all the Benalmádena attractions that make this place special.

The coastal area is tourists’ first choice, featuring modern marinas, luxury hotels, and vibrant nightlife. The village area maintains the traditional Andalusian white house style, perfect for travelers seeking cultural experiences. Arroyo de la Miel is ideal for family visitors, home to the famous Tivoli World amusement park.
Must-Visit Attractions
| Attraction Name | Recommendation Rating | Features |
| Benalmádena Marina | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Luxury yachts, restaurants, bars |
| Buddha Garden | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Europe’s largest Buddhist temple |
| Butterfly Park | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Tropical butterflies and birds |
| Tivoli World | ⭐⭐⭐ | Family amusement park |
I especially recommend Buddha Garden, this 15,000-square-meter temple complex will absolutely amaze you. Although the name sounds very Eastern, it perfectly blends Andalusian architectural styles and is an excellent spot for photography.
Beach Experience
The beach quality in Benalmádena is really excellent, with fine sand and crystal-clear waters. Malapesquera Beach is my favorite - relatively quiet and perfect for relaxation. If you enjoy water sports, Santa Ana Beach offers various facilities, including windsurfing and kayak rentals.
Helpful Tip: July-August is peak season when beaches get quite crowded. I recommend visiting before 9 AM or after 5 PM to avoid crowds while enjoying sunrise or sunset views.
Dining and Accommodation
The local tapas culture is very vibrant, especially the seafood restaurants near the marina. Marisquería La Marina serves absolutely outstanding paella - while not cheap, the quality is exceptional. For budget-conscious travelers, the small taverns in the village area offer more affordable options.
Regarding accommodation, four-star hotels in the coastal area offer great value, most featuring sea-view rooms and swimming pools. For a more authentic experience, guesthouses in the village area are excellent choices - affordable and perfect for experiencing local atmosphere. Remember to book in advance, especially during summer months.
