As someone who has lived in Barcelona for three years, friends often ask me about the most worthwhile attractions in this city. Today I’ll share my personal recommendation list, hoping it will help those planning to visit Barcelona.
Gaudi Architecture Complex
When it comes to Barcelona, Gaudi’s architecture is absolutely not to be missed. Sagrada Familia is undoubtedly the top attraction, this basilica that has been under construction for over 140 years is still being built today. I recommend buying tickets online in advance, as queuing on-site wastes a lot of time. The best visiting times are 9-10 AM or 4-5 PM when the lighting effects are particularly stunning.

Casa Batllo located on Passeig de Gracia is another masterpiece designed by Gaudi. The audio guide here is exceptionally well-made, with AR technology allowing you to see the house’s original design concept. The ticket price isn’t cheap, but it’s absolutely worth the experience.
Park Guell and Casa Mila
Park Guell is open for free, but the core mosaic area requires a ticket. I recommend arriving before 8 AM to avoid crowds and capture the most beautiful morning light photos. The park is located on a hillside, so remember to wear comfortable shoes.
Here are the recommended visiting times for major attractions:
| Attraction | Recommended Duration | Best Time |
| Sagrada Familia | 2-3 hours | 9-10 AM |
| Casa Batllo | 1.5 hours | 2-4 PM |
| Park Guell | 2 hours | 8-9 AM |
| Casa Mila | 1 hour | Evening |
The Charm of Gothic Quarter
The Gothic Quarter in the old town is my favorite place to wander. Narrow cobblestone streets, medieval buildings, and countless small bars and boutique shops. Barcelona Cathedral is located here, and while it may not be as famous as Sagrada Familia, it has a much longer history.
La Rambla connects the city center with the harbor and is a great place to observe local life. However, be careful of pickpockets, especially when it’s crowded. At the end of the boulevard is Columbus Monument, where you can take an elevator to the top for a panoramic view of the city.
Finally, I want to say that Barcelona’s charm lies not only in these famous attractions, but also in the unexpected discoveries while strolling through the streets. Every corner might bring surprises - that’s what makes this city most attractive.
