I recently planned a trip to Spain and just successfully obtained my Spanish visa. I’d like to share my detailed experience with applying for a Spain visa in London. While the process can be somewhat tedious, it goes quite smoothly with proper preparation.
Visa Types and Application Locations
For applying for a Spanish visa in London, you have two main options: the Spanish Visa Application Centre located at Marble Arch or directly at the Spanish Consulate. I recommend choosing the visa application centre as they offer more professional service, and you can make online appointments for London Spain visa fees, which is quite convenient. The visa application centre address is: Spanish Visa Application Centre, 38-40 Gillingham Street, London SW1V 1HU.

Required Documents Checklist
Preparing documents is the most crucial step. Here’s the complete checklist:
| Document Type | Specific Requirements |
| Passport | Valid for at least 6 months, minimum 2 blank pages |
| Photos | Recent color passport photos (2 pieces), 35mm x 45mm |
| Application Form | Fill online and print with signature |
| Insurance | Covering Schengen area, minimum 30,000 EUR coverage |
| Flight Booking | Round-trip flight reservation |
| Accommodation Proof | Hotel booking or invitation letter |
| Financial Proof | Bank statements for at least 3 months |
| Employment Letter | Employer letter including salary and approved leave |
I particularly want to remind everyone that bank statements must be recent, preferably from within a week of your application. I was previously asked to provide new statements because mine were too old.
Appointment and Submission Process
The online appointment system typically requires booking 1-2 weeks in advance, especially during summer tourist season. After successful booking, you’ll receive a confirmation email - remember to print and bring it. On submission day, I suggest arriving 15 minutes early, as staff will check your documents for completeness.
The entire submission process takes about 30 minutes, including fingerprint collection and photo taking. Staff will inform you of the approximate collection time, usually 10-15 working days. If your London Spain visa documents are complete, there should be no issues.
Fees and Processing Time
Standard tourist visa fee is 80 EUR, approximately 70 GBP. If you choose expedited processing service, additional fees apply. I chose standard processing and actually received my passport back in 12 working days.
I recommend everyone carefully check all documents before applying, especially dates and personal information accuracy. If you have any questions, you can call the visa centre in advance for consultation - their customer service is quite professional. I hope this experience helps friends preparing to apply for Spanish visas!
