Recently planning a trip to the UK, I discovered that UK visa fees are more complex than I initially thought. As a Spanish resident, I spent considerable time researching the fee structures for various visa types. Now I’m sharing this information with everyone, hoping it helps those with similar needs.
Standard Visitor Visa Fees
The UK Standard Visitor Visa is the most common type, suitable for tourism, visiting friends and family, business trips, and other short-term visits. Currently, a 6-month standard visitor visa costs £95, approximately €110. If you need a 2-year multiple entry visa, the fee is £361, a 5-year multiple entry visa costs £822, and a 10-year multiple entry visa costs £1033.

Work and Study Visa Fees
For those planning to work or study in the UK, fees are considerably higher. Student visa fees vary depending on the application location:
| Visa Type | Fee (GBP) | Fee (EUR) |
| Student Visa | 363 | 420 |
| Skilled Worker Visa | 625-1423 | 720-1640 |
| Global Talent Visa | 623 | 720 |
It’s important to note that these fees don’t include the Immigration Health Surcharge. Student and work visa applicants must pay an additional £470 per year for healthcare coverage.
Priority Services and Additional Fees
If time is critical, you can opt for priority services. Standard priority service costs £573 and provides results within 5 working days. Super priority service costs £1033 and typically delivers results within 24 hours. However, it’s important to remember that priority services don’t guarantee visa approval - they only expedite processing time.
There are also potential additional costs to consider. While biometric information collection is usually included in the visa fee, if you require a mobile biometric service, there may be extra charges. Translation and notarization costs for documents are also your responsibility.
Payment Methods and Refund Policy
Visa fees must be paid online and accept credit and debit cards. Cash payments are no longer accepted. It’s crucial to note that visa fees are non-refundable regardless of the application outcome. Even if your visa is refused, you cannot receive a refund, so ensure all materials are complete before applying.
I recommend carefully reviewing all requirements before applying to avoid rejection due to incomplete documentation, which would result in financial loss. Also, monitor exchange rate fluctuations since fees are calculated in British pounds, and euro payments will be affected by currency conversion rates.
