After living in Madrid for nearly three years, I’ve noticed many friends asking where to dance or enjoy live music. As a dance enthusiast, I’d like to share some of my regular spots that might be helpful.
Flamenco Performance Venues
As Spain’s capital, Madrid naturally offers unmissable flamenco performances. My top recommendations are Cardamomo and Casa Patas located in the Latin Quarter. Cardamomo has an exceptional atmosphere, with dancers and guitarists working in perfect harmony—fixed performances every Thursday and Saturday at 10 PM. Casa Patas leans more traditional, ideal for those wanting to deeply understand flamenco artistry. Remember to book seats in advance, as both venues frequently sell out.

Recommended Latin Dance Clubs
If you enjoy salsa, bachata, or reggaeton, the Chueca area has several excellent clubs. My regulars are Azúcar and Tentadero. Azúcar offers free beginner salsa classes every Wednesday starting at 9 PM, transitioning to open dancing after 10:30. Tentadero features a DJ with excellent taste, spanning Cuban salsa to Puerto Rican reggaeton—arrive early on weekends to avoid long queues.
Here’s a comparison table of my frequent venues:
| Venue Name | Type | Area | Operating Hours | Entry Fee |
| Cardamomo | Flamenco | Latin Quarter | Thu-Sat 22:00 | €35-45 |
| Casa Patas | Flamenco | Antón Martín | Daily 20:00/22:30 | €40 |
| Azúcar | Salsa Club | Chueca | Wed-Sun 21:00 | Free-€10 |
| Tentadero | Latin Club | Chueca | Fri-Sat 23:00 | €12-15 |
| Mondo Disko | Electronic Party | Malasaña | Thu-Sat 00:00 | €10-15 |
Electronic and Modern Dance Venues
For electronic music lovers, Malasaña is your best bet. Mondo Disko and Siroco frequently host international DJs, with musical styles ranging from techno to house. Last month I attended a live set at Siroco—the atmosphere was absolutely incredible. Though I overindulged and couldn’t get up the next day, everyone should remember to pace their drinking.
Worth noting: Madrid’s nightlife typically starts very late, with most clubs not filling up until after midnight. If you’re an early sleeper, you might need to adjust your schedule. On weekends, many venues stay open until 6 AM or later.
Finally, I’ve personally visited all these places multiple times—this isn’t advertising. If you have other great recommendations, feel free to share in the comments. Madrid’s music and dance scene is truly vibrant, and I hope more people can enjoy this city’s nightlife culture through Madrid dance classes.
