Hotel Inglés Madrid Stay Review
Last month I traveled to Madrid for business and stayed at Hotel Inglés for five days. I’d like to share my experience with you. This hotel is located near Gran Vía, which is indeed very convenient for those who need to be active in the city center.
Location and Transportation
The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Puerta del Sol and roughly 15 minutes from the Prado Museum. The nearest metro station is Gran Vía, just a 3-minute walk from the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants and shops in the surrounding area, offering many dining options in the evening. If you’re planning to visit nearby cities like Toledo or Segovia, it’s also very convenient from Atocha train station. For shopping enthusiasts, El Corte Inglés department store is easily accessible.

Room Facilities and Services
I booked a standard double room, approximately 25 square meters in size—not particularly large but adequate. The bed was quite comfortable, and the soundproofing was moderate; occasionally you could hear sounds from the hallway, but it didn’t affect rest. The room had basic amenities including air conditioning, a safe, and a mini fridge. The front desk staff spoke both English and Spanish, so communication was seamless. Breakfast was buffet-style with a decent variety, including bread, ham, cheese, and fruit.
Below is a comparison of the hotel’s basic information I’ve compiled:
| Item | Details |
| Check-in time | 14:00 |
| Check-out time | 12:00 |
| Free WiFi | Available |
| Parking | Additional fee required |
| Breakfast price | Approximately 15 euros/person |
Nearby Recommendations
There are several restaurants near the hotel that I found quite good. Casa Labra’s fried cod is authentic and reasonably priced. If you want tapas, you can visit Mercado de San Miguel, which has various food stalls and a lively atmosphere. For those interested in [El Corte Inglés shopping], it’s worth exploring their complete guide. I originally wanted to try a Michelin restaurant, but gave up due to budget constraints.
When strolling along Gran Vía in the evening, you can see many street performers, creating a pleasant atmosphere. I recommend paying attention to the surrounding side streets, where you can often discover some unique shops.
Overall Assessment
This hotel offers good value for money, especially suitable for first-time visitors to Madrid who want to stay in the city center for convenient sightseeing. Price-wise, when I booked it was around 120 euros per night, which is mid-range for Madrid’s city center. If your accommodation requirements aren’t particularly high and you just need a clean, comfortable place with a convenient location, Hotel Inglés is a good choice. Of course, if your budget is more generous, there are more upscale options in the city center. During the holiday season, you might also want to check out the Madrid El Corte Inglés Christmas shopping guide and festive atmosphere experience.
