The restaurant is located on a quiet street in central Madrid. While the exterior is understated, stepping inside reveals a tastefully decorated interior. We visited during weekend dinner hours, and while it was busy, it wasn’t noisy—the overall atmosphere felt very comfortable.

The Iberian ham quality was exceptional—it melted in your mouth, and I highly recommend this dish. The paella portion was generous enough for two people to share; the rice was slightly firm, but that’s the authentic preparation style. The grilled octopus was perfectly cooked, crispy outside and tender inside, served with olive oil and sea salt—simple yet delicious.
Service Experience
The waitstaff were friendly and professional. Although my Spanish isn’t very fluent, they patiently explained the menu in English. The pacing of service was appropriate, never making us wait too long. When settling the bill, the server proactively asked about our dining experience, which felt very thoughtful.
Overall Assessment
Our meal for two came to approximately €75, which is mid-to-upper range for central Madrid. If you want to experience authentic Spanish cuisine without going to overly commercialized tourist restaurants, Madrid restaurants like Casajuan are an excellent choice. I recommend making reservations in advance, especially for weekend evenings, as walk-in wait times at Madrid restaurant agencies can be quite long.
The only minor drawback was that the dessert was somewhat ordinary, but the quality of the main courses and appetizers more than made up for it. I’ll definitely return to try other dishes—I’ve heard their braised oxtail is also excellent.
